Heroines is an immersion onto the world of Lincoln Clarkes and his photographic obsession with forgotten women of the street. With poems by Susan Musgrave and a haunting score by John Korsrud, the art documentary explores a disturbing netherworld of addiction, prostitution and survival in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside…the poorest neighborhood in Canada. Like the compelling portraits of Clarkes, Heroines humanizes a world many would rather forget: a drug ghetto of the homeless, the abused, the criminalized and the murdered.
